1. Ugh. I just upgraded my iPaq 5455 with PocketPC2003 to try out the new Skype handheld software and shortly after I installed an RSS reader. Had it all ready to try a mobile tech-fest.

Got home this weekend, got the iPaq on my home WiFi. And the iPaq abruptly reset to "Welcome to iPaq this is how you use a stylus." All work lost. I am very annoyed at this modern, high-end PDA that auto-nukes on a whim. Ugh, I say.

2. I feel your pain Mike. All I can say is that sometimes, when one lives on the bleeding edge, pain is to be expected. ;)

3. I searched for "reset" due to the same problem experienced when on vacation. I wonder if there was ever any solution to the problem! Was it the operating system or was it related to the iPAQ? I want to know before I blast the wrong source. This happened as follows (described by my husband):I got an SD memory card for it (one that I knew well to work with the iPAQ), bought and installed 2 dictionaries, and set up the ActivSync so that it loaded my wife’s email, contact information, etc. onto the device. All seemed to be working well, and she was until today fairly happy with it. Then, this morning, sitting on the couch at a vacation location, my wife turned the iPAQ on (quite normally), put it down for a second, and then heard a sound, ‘clang, clang’ like an alarm bell. The screen then showed “set up HP iPAQ; tap the screen on the cursor location”. She handed it to me, and I followed the directions, reaching a screen after just 5 clicks where you get the statement, “Congratulations, your iPAQ is successfully set up”. I thought this a bit strange… Well, that was not entirely true, plus, everything from contacts, email, installed programs, etc. were gone or erased. The date was set to May 1, 2003. I checked to see if this was perhaps due to low battery power (power revealed 55% remaining).

Anyway, imagine this happening to a sales guy who's relying on it for customer calls, etc. - it's worse than a blue screen since nothing was there except the dictionaries on the SD card and they had to be reset before they worked again!
